Energy Producers is committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”) in the way it handles personal information it collects.

WHAT KINDS OF PERSONAL INFORMATION DOES ENERGY PRODUCERS COLLECT?

The personal information collected by Energy Producers, and the purpose for the collection, will depend on Energy Producers’ interaction with you.

In the course of conducting our activities, Energy Producers may collect personal information about you, such as your:

Events

Energy Producers will generally collect the name, contact details, job title and the organisation of individuals who register for an event organised by Energy Producers. Depending on the event, we may also collect your dietary requirements.

Photographs and recordings

Energy Producers may collect extracts of speeches given at events. Energy Producers may also collect photographs, audio and video recordings of individuals who attend events organised by Energy Producers. This personal information is collected to enable Energy Producers to promote its activities and to publish recordings or transcripts of events. For example, we may publish keynote speeches and use photographs in any of our hard copy publications, digital publications and websites, and on our social media channels.

Industry-related submissions

Energy Producers may occasionally make media releases or submissions, with a view to promoting its interests in the wider public forum. In doing so, Energy Producers may rely upon comments or opinions of individuals, and use these comments or opinions in the media releases or submissions. These comments may contain personal information.

Recruitment and contractors

Energy Producers may collect personal information about job applicants, such as their name, address, contact details, current and past employment information, and educational qualifications.

Energy Producers will also collect personal information about its contractors and suppliers, such as their name, contact details, ABN, and bank account details for payment purposes.

 

HOW DOES ENERGY PRODUCERS COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Direct collection

Energy Producers also collects personal information in the course of any interactions that you have with us, including if you contact us directly, if you register for an event, or if you subscribe to our newsletters. Where it is possible, Energy Producers collects personal information directly from the individual to whom it relates, such as in-person, or via Energy Producers’ website. Energy Producers may collect the information via a third party service provider, such as an online booking agent when you make a booking for an Energy Producers event, or a recruiting agent that provides job applications to Energy Producers.

In some circumstances Energy Producers or its third party service provider may also collect your personal information from a third party, such as your authorised representative when you authorise another person to register you for an Energy Producers event.

You can interact with us anonymously or pseudonymously if you do not provide your full name to us when contacting us, however we generally collect information from visitors of our website including your computer’s IP address, certain metadata and cookies (see “Cookies” section below). If you choose to interact with us anonymously or pseudonymously, we may not be able to provide certain services to you.

We do not knowingly collect the personal information of minors under the age of 18.

Cookies

Energy Producers may collect information about your visit to its website through cookies to assist Energy Producers to measure and improve its website. Events management

When you register for an event Energy Producers will use your personal information to enable it to organise, manage and conduct the event.

Energy Producers may also use the personal information you provide when registering for an event to provide you with additional information, such as about upcoming events Energy Producers considers may be of interest to you.

Other uses

Energy Producers may use your personal information for other purposes that relate to the purpose for which your personal information was collected. Energy Producers holds your personal information in a combination of hard copy and electronic files. Energy Producers strives to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information it holds, and Energy Producers reviews and updates its security measures in light of current technologies.

Energy Producers will take steps to destroy or de-identify your personal information when it is no longer required.

 

ACCESS TO, AND CORRECTION OF, PERSONAL INFORMATION

Energy Producers will not charge you for making a request to access or correct your personal information. However, Energy Producers reserves the right to charge a reasonable fee for processing your request, including searching for your personal information.

Energy Producers will respond to your request for access or correction as soon as reasonably practicable.

If Energy Producers refuses to provide you with access to your personal information, or to correct your personal information, Energy Producers will generally notify you of its reasons for refusal and how you may complain about the refusal.
