Enter A New Scientific Reality At Science Alive! Expo
Brighter and STEM Punks set to appear at first-ever Geelong event.
Ever wondered what it would be like to fly your own drone, or enter a new reality by slipping on a pair of goggles?
Children and parents will have the opportunity to do exactly that this weekend in Geelong when Brighter brings drones, virtual reality and robots to the Science Alive! Expo – the largest interactive science exhibition in Australia.
Teaming up with STEM Punks, Brighter will be inspiring kids to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Sarah Browne, Director of Brighter: “Brighter is supporting the Science Alive! Expo in Geelong because we believe STEM is fundamental to the skill set of Australia’s future workforce.”
“The natural gas industry is dependent on innovative technology and is reliant on STEM educated workers – from engineers to environmental scientists – to manage and operate it.”
“Brighter and STEM Punks will demonstrate to families how engaging science can be.”
The energy sector is rapidly adopting new technologies and changing the way it operates. The use of drones and virtual reality has created even more efficient and safe working environments and developed new employment opportunities working with the new technology.
At the expo, people will be able to learn to perform basic drone manoeuvres and undertake a gas pipeline mission. Then, using virtual reality goggles, become an engineer on their very own gas pipeline – all while standing in the GMHBA stadium!
Michael Holmstrom, STEM Punks Program Director: “The STEM Punks mission is to inspire tomorrow’s innovators, and we are doing this by offering Australian children the chance to interact and learn about the technology of tomorrow.”
“We will be bringing drones, virtual reality and coding workshops to Geelong and to show how that science and technology are cool!”
Brian Haddy, Science Alive! Program Director: “The technology exhibits at Science Alive! are always tremendously popular with kids of all ages.”
“Our exhibitors are interactive and provide families with a hands-on learning experience which is also a lot of fun. Science Alive! is all about teaching the importance of science and technology in real life.”
The expo will be open to the public this weekend, 9am – 5pm, at GMHBA Stadium. Entry is free for children under the age of 15. Tickets can be purchased here.
