Celebrating International Women’s Day
The 8th of March is International Women’s Day.
#IWD2021 (International Women’s Day) is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the many thousands of women in the natural gas industry.
In Australia and around the world women are integral to the natural gas supply chain, making sure that the most clean traditional source of energy is able to power homes and businesses, and support the uptake of renewables for a cleaner energy future.
The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge
“A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.” , says the official IWD website.
“We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.”
“From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.”
That’s why Brighter is a Science and Technology Australia partner, supporting the Superstars of STEM program. The initiative supports women in STEM careers – including the natural gas industry – communicate to girls all around Australia, including in regional and remote communities. Giving potential role models a platform is vital to all Australians.
The natural gas industry strongly champions gender diversity, supporting school-based STEM programs, internships and carer opportunities for women.
