The One Thing Australians Say They Can’t Live Without

A gas cooktop holds a special place in the heart of most Australians. It’s how we’ve been cooking everything from scrambled eggs to elaborate dinners for many years. It’s still favoured by chefs the world over for the control it allows and is the primary method of cooking for over half of Australian households.

In recent research conducted by Brighter, Australians were asked what the most essential item in their kitchen was. Unsurprisingly, the majority of Australians said their natural gas cooktop was the most important item. One-third of Australians said they couldn’t live without their gas cooktop. This was highest among young people, with 38% of Australians under the age of 40 saying they couldn’t live without their gas cooktop.

Whether you know it or not, gas plays a big part in almost all Australian homes. Most of us use it for cooking, hot showers or weekend BBQs with the family. Gas is also vital in keeping local businesses, schools and hospitals powered and running.
