Engineering Solutions Under the Sea

Subsea Engineering Associates is a Perth-based engineering firm that specialises in, you guessed it, subsea engineering solutions.

Founded in 2009, SEA now has over 50 staff members. In an interview with Business News earlier this year, Managing Director Afton Galbraith said that being based in Perth and using relationships in the Australian natural gas industry (particularly with Woodside and Chevron) has helped them open new markets overseas. The company now also operates in Poland and various locations around Europe.

“For offshore subsea pipelines, Perth is one of the best places in the world”, Mr Galbraith told Business News.

“We’ve had a large number of offshore projects over the past 20 years that are very technically challenging. Lot’s of overseas people with a background in offshore engineering have come to Perth…and that talent pool is still here.”

That talent set has grown over the past 15, 20 years, and now it’s some of the best”.

The company is known for and proud of its automated engineering assessment software. This allows computers to perform manual tasks, allowing engineers to spend their time working on real solutions.
