Soldiering On
We owe a great debt to our Veterans. Their sacrifices are for our benefit, and their wounds can run much deeper than those we can see.
Soldier On, a not-for-profit organisation, has made it their mission to provide active and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force access to the support services, programs and activities that allow them to overcome the challenges that can follow traumatic experiences in the military.
Their goal is to enable serving and ex-serving veterans and their families to thrive.
Founded in 2012 by John Bale, Dr Danielle Clout and Cavin Wilson following the death of a friend on deployment in Afghanistan, the program initially provided support to those injured or traumatised during their service. 10 years on, Soldier On’s expanded service program provides holistic, trauma informed care to over 11,000 current and former ADF members and their families.
The programs work across health and wellbeing, employment support, learning and programs that encourage participation and connection. They assist veterans and their families to recover and reconnect with their communities, their education and employment opportunities.
The natural gas industry is proud to engage and employ many Veterans and ex-active service members of the ADF. The skills, mindset, work ethic and dedication to the community demonstrated by former ADF has proven these men and women to be assets to the industry.
Senex Energy recently continued an ongoing sponsorship of the Soldier On annual Gala Dinner, with its primary purpose to raise funds to provide ongoing services. The event serves as an opportunity for the industry to recognise the contribution of Veterans and active service people, as well as highlight the veterans working in and around the industry.
