Only One Earth
Sunday 5 June is World Environment Day.
A United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Environment Day has spread awareness since 1974.
Every year, a theme guides the direction of the event, and for 2022 it is ‘Only One Earth’
“The 2022 World Environment Day campaign #OnlyOneEarth calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.”
The theme marks this moment as a time for the evolution of our economies and societies, to become more connected with nature. To shift from harming the planet, to healing it.
To that end, the UNEP has created the #OnlyOneEarth Practical Guide, outlining some of the transformative actions that organizations and people can take.
Australia’s natural gas industry is held to the highest environmental standards at all stages of the approvals process, and supports environmental conservation and preservation in keeping with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The industry also fosters and supports community initiatives aimed at protecting the environment, including fire abatement programs, tree plantings, artificial reefs, and other conservation initiatives.
The official World Environment Day event schedule hosted by UNEP and Decade Partners can be found here.
